Five Bahamas students won $10K each in an NFT competition sponsored by Snoop Dogg's son, promoting digital art and music innovation.
Five talented students from the University of The Bahamas have each been awarded $10,000 for their outstanding digital music and art creations. This initiative was part of the university's NFT Digital Arts Project, generously sponsored by Cordell Broadus, the son of renowned rapper Snoop Dogg.
Competition Highlights
- The winners were announced on October 7, with three students recognized in the Visual Art category and two in the Music category.
- The project was funded through the Champ Medici Arts Fund Scholarship Award at the University of The Bahamas, which was established with an initial donation of $100,000 in March 2024.
Support from Cordell Broadus and Tezos
- Cordell Broadus, in collaboration with the Tezos Foundation, initiated the CMAF, a $1 million philanthropic fund aimed at supporting emerging artists and musicians globally.
- The NFT competition is just the beginning, as the CMAF and Tezos Foundation plan to provide educational resources, tutorials, and guidance on using the Tezos blockchain for minting and selling NFTs.
Future Initiatives and Technology Support
- The initiative will also equip the university with necessary technology and tools to enhance students' digital art and music endeavors.
- Tezos, a proof-of-stake blockchain platform, launched in 2017, is known for its smart contracts and has recently undergone a significant upgrade to improve its ecosystem.
